An animated wedding invitation shows a closing scene first, such as a sealed envelope or a pair of doors, and opens when the guest taps. On Koroty, many designs open this way, and after the animation the guest sees the details, a countdown, a map and the RSVP. It is different from a video, which plays the same for everyone and ends.
Koroty is the platform I build, so these are my designs and my opinion. Below, I describe several by name so you can picture them, and I explain when an animation helps and when a calmer design is the better choice.
What is an animated wedding invitation? #
It is an invitation that opens with a short scene before the content appears. The guest receives a link, sees an envelope or doors with their name on them, and taps once. The seal breaks, the doors swing apart, or the curtain parts, and the invitation itself comes into view.
The animation is the opening, not the whole thing. What follows is a normal invitation page: the couple's names, the date, a countdown, the venue with a map, the schedule, notes, a photo and an RSVP form. Music can play too, but only when the guest taps, so no phone starts playing without permission.
Which opening animations are there? #
Koroty designs use several kinds of opening. A few examples, with the real design names:

That is Rose Drive, where a vintage car key on a satin ribbon turns as rose petals scatter. It suits a couple who want something playful and romantic rather than formal.
Wax-seal envelopes #
- Golden Seal: an ivory 3D envelope. The golden wax seal breaks, and an arch of white roses appears.
- Arch of Light: an ivory envelope with raised roses and a wax seal bearing the couple's initials. Light pours out when it opens.
- Oasis Palace: a watercolour palace among palms behind a wax-sealed envelope, with petals drifting.
- Blush Lace: a blush envelope edged in white lace with a pearl clasp.
Doors that swing open #
- Wisteria Villa: two embroidered sage-linen doors open onto a villa with a fountain.
- Emerald Palace: emerald velvet doors embroidered in gold open onto a domed palace.
- Pearl Palace: white marble doors inlaid with gold and mother-of-pearl.
Mashrabiya, curtains and more #
- Andalusian Nights: a gold-and-marble mashrabiya lifts away from a moonlit courtyard.
- Hand in Hand: sheer tulle curtains part as colour blooms from the flowers.
- Paper Garden: a paper-cut shadow box where a peony bud blooms at a touch.
Design yours free and open a few with your own names on them. Seeing your names on the envelope tells you more than any description.
How is an animated invitation different from a video invitation? #
A video is a recording. It plays the same way for every viewer, from the first second to the last, and then it stops. If you want a guest to reply, you must add a separate message asking them to answer you, and if a detail changes you must make and send a new video.
An interactive invitation behaves differently:
| Video invitation | Interactive animated invitation | |
|---|---|---|
| Plays | The same clip for everyone | Opens on a tap, then stays as a page |
| Guest's name | Only if you make a clip per guest | On each guest's own envelope |
| RSVP | Separate, by message | Built in, with seat limits |
| Map | Written in the caption | Opens with a tap |
| Countdown | No | Yes |
| Changing a detail | Re-make and re-send | Edit, press "Update", same link |
A video can still be lovely as a teaser. You can send a short clip to spark interest and the link to collect replies. For the bigger comparison, read Canva wedding invitations vs interactive ones.
How do you match an animation to your wedding? #
Start with the feeling you want guests to have in the first two seconds, then pick the scene that delivers it.
- A traditional family celebration with a large hall: doors or palaces such as Emerald Palace, Pearl Palace or Mahal Gold carry a sense of arrival.
- A garden or villa wedding: Wisteria Villa, Paper Garden or Chateau Green fit the setting before a guest reads a word.
- An evening with lanterns and arches: Andalusian Nights or Saraya Gold suit a night wedding with an Andalusian feel.
- A romantic couple-first mood: Rose Drive, Hand in Hand or Golden Seal feel personal.
Then think about the words. A busy design with a long text block can feel crowded on a small screen, so keep your names, date and venue short and put the extra detail in the schedule and notes sections. For help with the text itself, see what to write in a wedding invitation.
Do animated invitations work on every phone? #
The invitation is a link that opens in any browser on a phone or computer, on iPhone or Android, with no app and no account. Animations are part of the page, so guests don't download anything. As with any web page, an older phone or a slow connection may open it more slowly, so test your link on a modest phone before you send it widely. The preview link, which works for 48 hours with every feature, is the right place to do that.
When should you choose a calmer design? #
Animation is a style choice, not a requirement. Think about your guests:
- If your family is formal, a classic envelope or doors can feel dignified.
- If many guests are older, a single clear tap to open is kinder than a long sequence.
- If you want the text to be the star, the Minimalism designs (Dark Red, Brown, Dark Blue, Sage Green and Purple) keep a soft envelope and a quiet look.
You can also change the design later without losing your details, so you aren't locked in. If you want ideas for a rich look, see luxury wedding invitation ideas, and for photos and music, wedding invitation photos and music.
What does it cost? #
Design and preview are free with no account and no time limit. Publishing gives you a 48-hour preview link, and the permanent link needs one payment per invitation, with no subscription and unlimited guests and replies. In the US and Europe that is $29, and your country's price is on the pricing page.
What are the limits today? #
- Each invitation is in one language, Arabic or English.
- Koroty doesn't currently email or text guests; you send each personal link yourself, for example through WhatsApp.
- Koroty doesn't offer printed cards. For an image, the free wedding invitation card maker makes a phone-size JPG with a small koroty.com mark.
Frequently asked questions #
Can I choose a design without an animation? #
Koroty's designs differ. The Minimalism designs are calm, with a soft envelope. Open each design in the preview to see exactly how it behaves.
Will the animation play automatically? #
The guest taps once to open it. Music also plays only when the guest taps.
Can I put each guest's name on the envelope? #
Yes. Each guest you add gets a personal link, and their name appears on the envelope.
Is an animated invitation the same as a GIF? #
No. A GIF loops a small picture. Here the animation is the opening of a full page that includes an RSVP, map and countdown.
Can I change the design after I send it? #
Yes. The design can be changed later without losing your details. Press "Update" so guests see it on the same link.
Can I send an animated invitation on WhatsApp? #
Yes. The invitation is a link, so it travels like any other message. In your guest list, press "Send" next to a guest's name and WhatsApp opens with a ready message containing their name and link. The animation plays when the guest opens the link in their browser, not inside the chat. More in how to send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp.
The bottom line #
An animated opening makes the first moment feel like receiving a real envelope, and the page behind it does the practical work. Pick the scene that fits your wedding, then check it on a phone. Browse Koroty's designs, or read the digital wedding invitations guide.
